Yeah, right!!! If you believe this I have a bridge in New York to sell you!!!

The stenciled 3/77 probably means March 1977.

The ONLY way you can even CONSIDER one of these as original is if you bought or acquired it directly from the WWII veteran who wore it during the war (1939-45) and has pictures of himself wearing it... then I'd still be 50% skeptical.

Sorry, but I've seen hundreds of these black leather jackets being claimed as SS panzer wraps from the Hitlerjugend Division... all Normandy veterans!!! Same way with the long, black leather overcoats all being Gestapo!!!

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

I tend to agree with the opinion above. I have seen these regulation BGS leather jackets in dark "BGS" green as well. I can not tell for sure if the one in the photo is dark green or Black, but I think that the BGS used them in both colors. IMO it would have some interest and value as a legit and pretty hard to find BGS uniform item.

There is no question that leather wraps were made per contract during WWII and they are certainly around. The bigger question is what service were they made for and perhaps what services used them even not intended originally. There is a popular conception (perhaps due to J.A. reference book series) that they were made for the NSKK. I personally do not believe that at all, I have found no evidence of it and it runs counter to all logic and common sense for the period in which they were made.
There is absolute evidence that at least some were used by the KM. The is also enough evidence for me that they were also used by some PZ formations including some SS and HG Div....and probably Heer as well.

Yes but for a BGS biker! The loops are factory sewn. The lining is not what is found in civilian jackets. The detachable button arrangement is also no typical on civilian jackets. I would bet that if this was moved down to the forum on post war German uniforms we would get more information on it than we could stand!
