    SS Pin - Please help!

    Hello all,

    Please can someone help me! I'm an absolute novice at this! I recently purchased an SS pin, it is set in metal (sorry not to be more specific) and 1.5cm in diameter. It is black enamel and has the runic SS inlaid in metal in the middle. Surrounding the insignia is a thin circular metal band with 1mm between it and another metal band which encases the back of the badge. The pin attachment itself is soldered on to the back but has been snapped off with only a couple of mm's left so I'm not too sure where it would have been worn. The front of the badge is slightly convex, and slightly scratched, the back is totally flat. Having searched for something similar on the net the only item I could find was a blatant reproduction so that wasn't much help! Unfortunately I don't have access to a scanner so I hope my description is accurate enough. I would be really really grateful if someone could give me some information on the pin, who would have worn it, where or any photos etc.. Thanks!

    Hi Sara;

    Look at this link: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...&highlight=pin

    Does your pin look like any of those?
    Best regards,

      Cheers!

      Thanks Tony,
      Having read your reply to TobyR that explains quite a bit. My pin looks most like the photo on the left. Although mine is a little scratched it doesn't look quite as knackered as his! It has the thin bands too and looks nothing like the photo on the right. The runes are much sharper and the first is set about 2 mm's above the other. As shown on the reverse photos mine also has had the pin soldered on but it's not even dead centre! It certainly has no makers marks. Anyway, given that you say stickpins don't interest you too much, thanks for the help!
