BNZ. 42- those are some cool ornaments....the SS tree displays are cool as well....I bareley have any original stuff, so no ornaments as of yet....my tree has only lights and a star on top that blinks like a landing light....

If it weren#t for us being collectors and/or reenactors, nothing screams "Nazi" louder than Swastika ornaments....

Here is a Jul-candleholder as shown in the Book from SS-Oberabschnitt West: "Die Gestaltung der Feste im Jahres- und Lebenslauf in der SS-Familie"

            Well,

I don´t think you will find the page since it is just not in there...

Perhaps it is related to SS - perhaps not...

very nice display! I was actually about to open a thread myself on this topic: anybody has period pics or other stuff related, such like Julteller, cookie cutters with traditional Jul figures and so on?

I saw this box today, it's made in england.
was it made for the german marked before the war.
The ornaments are not the original ones I belive, but the case looks nice.

The Swas is left facing, so maybe or most likely for the Indian market and not Nazi related

Not for German market...many books and WAF threads on the swastika craze in the Americas and Europe something like 1890's to 1930's.

Swaz as an Amerindian good luck charm- British Pictish(ancient cultural group) symbol- Theosophical (old time new age) religious symbol-and of course, British Empire owned India with the cultural exchange had to bring the symbol over

swaz was on anything you can imagine: Fawcett spigots, on women's club sweaters , US military insignia....you name it.

Very interesting photos re the Nazi Christmas, but it brings up a point that I've been wondering about. It's obvious that Christmas was celebrated in the 1933-1945 period, but how did that reconcile with the SS/Himmler neo-pagan philosophy put forth during that period? The bigwigs gave each other Chistmas gifts and participated in public displays. Was this just false hearted propaganda? Certainly Himmler and Bormann were anti-clerical. I've heard mixed things about Hitler. Any thoughts on this apparent contradiction?

I ve been looking into that and a short answer is :Real- politik means play it by all sides to one's perceived advantage
                          Another way to say it:

Be for it and against it when it suits.
