Maybe he is not a good forger or still an apprentice. Jac

Guys please do not post all details why you think it is not original/ I know I am quite paranoic often but beter safe than sorry, who knows that guy maybe he is a faker.

Good idea. It is a reproduction from the ground up, what we call a "ground-up repro." Not even a Franky--no original parts. Saw a Reichsbahn Direktor at the MAX made by this same faker--they are starting to get around. Faker is good, but nowhere near perfect, and I am not going to go into all that he missed.

The consensus is that it is a fake. If you want a fake, buy it. If you do not, send it back. If a faker is watching the thread and wants to improve their fakes, take a hike.
                Fakers suck!

This is a major misconception. All a faker needs to do is use a representative piece, that is not something that can be stopped.

It is getting very obvious to this forum that the fakers are doing that as we post, as these pieces are getting better. However, they are not right. The issue is the skill of the faker in copying something they can buy from most dealers, not us telling them how good or not good their work is.

This forum explaining these shortfalls will not increase their fakery, for £500 they can do that with an infantry visor. They just cannot replicate the original.

The important thing is knowing what a real erel looks like as they may do eventually and then we have to know what fake ageing looks like!

JT well put. The key is to really know what originals look like. I am trying to get there. Untill then I know people, that know people, that know what originals look like. Jacques

Hi Jacques, many thanks, you've got the right idea too

A number of people have posted high end caps recently on here and they state that they are not into collecting caps, but what do we think of this, Luftwaffe General for example. Not, guy's I'm new to all this and don't want to get burnt, what do you think of this entry level Infantry or Arty.

We all have to do our homework and there are people on here that will help to an extent. For me, doing my own apraisal is one of the interesting things about collecting German Caps, (Strictly Heer for me) as finding the good ones from the baddies, keeps the interest. Plus seeing all the junk at shows makes me think sometimes, why the hell am I selling these originals!!!!

Imagine how it would be if only real ones were available, we'd have so much choice

Then again, none of these erel fakes pass the side view test for me. Take a nice extra and look at the saddle shape from the side. The fakes just don't cut the mustard.

                        best regards

                        J T
