    Freies Indien RZM

    Hello,

I wish to know your opinion about this badge released by M. Weitze. Construction style RZM, no reaction with UV.

    Cordial greetings.

I don't like it at all. The embroidery looks modern not 1940's RZM stitching.

I agree, NO WAY! Unless its a locally (Indian) made piece?

          Freis Indien Shield

Here is a Freies Indien Legion collar tab and sleeve shield that Bob Hritz posted awhile back. Notice the differences in the shield posted for review; especially in the title on the shield.

None of the photos that I examined feature such example and I never heard of embroidered version. However I do like the embroidery. I also like the fact that some letters are higher then the others - fakers would usually make the leters even. Saying that, I would pass on such shield - not something I would feel comfortable with.

                  Freies Indien RZM

                  Hello,

Thank you to all to have given your opinion. I collect the badges of foreign volunteers from now some years. As most of the collectors, I prefer the manufactures Bevo. This day, only the Bevo version of the badge Freies Indien was known. I distrust a great deal of the printed badges. The release of this badge, typifies RZM, intrigued me much for several reasons. Being sometimes in touch with Mr Bruggemann, this last one suggested me examining a badge. I accepted.

This badge, typifies RZM, is a little smaller than the Bevo version. It measures about 8 cms in height and 5,6 cms of wide. In the touch, the sweet tissue as the models Bevo. No reaction to the UV. The nature of the used tissue is interesting and looks like a Bevo quality. I was very surprised of the complexity of the construction. You will find some increases of the reverse in the next messages.

I admit that I am very tempted by this badge. To determine the nature of the tissue and of the colour used, a detailed exam will be able to allow it. I shall not miss to inform you.

                  Cordial greetings.

I do like the construction of this embroidered shield, which is very reminiscent of later embroidered W-SS shields. For the right price, I would certainly buy it.

Here is another variant of that one. Not sure if it is good or not....

The shield looks identical to Weitze's. After looking at it again, I rewised my opinoin, and beginning to think that the embroidered style is OK. However judging by the stiching and the minty look I think the one on the tunic, was applied post war.

Came across a photo of the printed one. Any thoughts? I like the misprint in the lower right side where the green is not quite touching the edge, but not sure overall:
