SS insignia on winter hat

I bought this hat for the price of the hat. The skull is M1/52 with the pads for soldering the pins. The eagle I'm not sure as I cant look in behind it to see and I dont want to break the pins. They had a silver finish that is worn. The hat has the SS runes inside a circle inside the hat (faded but can still be seen) Any opinions?

Sorry but the fact the cap itself is SS marked would make me immediately suspect it's a Heer cap. The eagle's definately fake anyway ... it's a pigeon head.

I agree with Ian...suspect stamp (never seen SS marked pelzmutzen...) + bad eagle (pidgeon head indeed) = 2 strikes against it being truly SS... but if you paid a (WH) hat price you did OK... and if the skull checks out OK you did more than OK, but note that the "M1/52" markings are often used on fake skulls...
I just don't know...Nice hat though!

Thanks for the input....Thats why I got it for hat price, he wasnt sure of the hardware. I'll take a pic of the back of the skull and post it tomorrow hopefully.
