Interesting SS NCO's Straps

Hi John,
Corps level SS troops (heavy panzer battalions; Corps artillery command; werfer battalion, etc, etc) were originally numbered in the 100 series with the last digit reflecting the corps number. For example, the Tiger battalion of the 1st SS-Panzer-Korps LSSAH was numbered as the Schw. SS-Pz-Abt 101; the 2d SS-Panzer-Korps had all corps level units number 102 and so on to the 14th SS-Armee-Korps.
However...in October 1944, all corps units had 400 added to their title (the 101 Tiger battalion became the 501 Tiger battalion, etc). So, you have the boards of an NCO in a corps level unit of the 2nd SS-Panzer-Korps. What is the waffenfarbe?
Cheers,
Mike

Hi John,
The Corps HQ staff NCOs and men would have worn white piped insignia - but would not have been numbered 502 (e.g. SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Paul Hausser would never have worn 502 on his shoulder straps). However, 2d SS-Panzer-Korps had Korps Sicherheits Kompanie 502 or Security Company 502, which was responsible for guarding the HQ and, in extremis act as a reserve force. these personnel would have worn white waffenfarbe. Nice set!
Mike
