    Prinz Eugen Tabs

As we all know, PE tabs are not as numerous as rune tabs, thereby leaving collectors with little information to go on. Most original examples found today are the third pattern Dachau pattern, which are fairly easy to identify. The most common fakes observed are the "Delta variants" of which I have seen quite a few lately on some sites offered for sale as originals. I am posting these jpegs to generate a constructive dialog, perhaps some of you may have some of your own first and second pattern PE tabs you would like to share with us. Your thoughts, opinions and synopsis concerning this area are most certainly welcomed.

The officer's tabs are fairly obvious, no comments on the first tab? Are there no Prinz Eugen fans out there?

I am a Prinz Eugen fan, but I don't have the type of tab you are seeking . . .

                Maybe you'll enjoy this?

Thanks for your reply and interest Brad, very nice. Nice to know there are some Prinz Eugen fans out there. I find it hard to believe no-one has commented on the first tab?

There are period photographs of the "thick" Odalrune being worn like the first example.

Hi, I also raised a similar question some time ago. In my opinion there are about 3-4 variants of the Odal rune tab for enlisted man.

                      1. The thicker one you just posted

                      2. The more skinnier one (Dahau type)

                      3. The type where the lower ebroidered part of Odal rune (one of the "legs" )is one line, and not two separate parts like in Dahau type

                      4. A mirror tab similar in construction to Nr.3.

Sorry that I don't have better shots of the collar tab (it's in a box in my ex-wife's basement at the moment), but FYI.

                        Thanks,

                        John

Thanks to all of you for your interest and photos! Here are a few photos that show the " Thick version", note the lack of piping. It seems quite a few guys from "PE" chose not to use the silver twist on their tabs.
