    Original Uniforms in Film

Here is the old Classic Desent on Drvar, filmed in drvar to my knowledge. Maybe not all but there was a substancial amount of equipment from the actual battle which was used in this film and others. I would dare say there are some captured SS Uniforms in this film somewhere as well as the former jadran Film "was" apparently full of that, prior to 1991 that is .

    Battle of the Neretva

Well, not only "Kanał" (original ss "smock" and "dot 44", SdKfz 251), there was ( in 40' and 50') few other good films with original german tunics nad jackets

      For example :

      - "Zakazane Piosenki" from 1947, were played real Germans (POW's) in original uniforms (singing scene ). There was also real machine guns with real ammo in combat/shooting scene

      Original SS visors :

      - "Godziny nadziei" from 1955 :

The Brits filmed a movie about Arnheim about 6 mo. after the battle. They use some real piats and other equipment and take out a real Panther. There is a lot of cool gear, plus if I remember right they have stock footage of an officers car right after it has been shot up. It was made as a movie but was produced by the War dept. and used for training.

They used real vets too!..to include the troops who were involved in the Battle and the evacuation. If i recall I heard one vet say something about being sent to the rear, or back from the UK to be in this movie. For the opening of the movie they were even giving out souvenier "tickets" which were small peices of metal from the Gliders of the operation. I have seen those for sale from time to time.
