Battlefield pick up SS visor from Normandy

I'm still wondering why it is not covered in brains and arterial blood. Losing your head and three vertebrae is a tad messy.

In the biography book "Sniper on the eastern front" Sepp Allerberger mentioned when he found a body of a comrade, whos face was just a bloody mud something - but his mountain-cap sitting on the edge of his foxhole, blown there by the airpressure of the grenade-explosion killing its owner. The cap didnt show a thear or the smallest drop of blood - so he changed it for his old dirty ripped one.

By the way: He was regretting this till the end of his life, as the russians were approaching, and he had to make the decission to take either the cap or the dogtag...

Just reposted here to prove a point that you should have an open mind about such anomolies! Things occasionally did get mixed up... It was done, but camo is understandable...
