And just to keep you interested - here's another fun little "home-made" item I picked up a while ago . . . I may show more of it some day as well.

            Brad

            P.S. I'm sure John will recall it . . .

              Thanks Jacques,

I always did like that tunic of yours! I remember when John first posted it for sale . . . I miss having all of John's contributions.

Thanks for the additional pictures and indeed the pockets do match fine in these images...the wrinkles made it look like the dimensions were off a little....so thinking it was sloppy tailoring... No problem obviously! I'm liking it much more now!!
WOW I really like the M44 restoration!!
I myself also enjoy restoring stripped tunics which makes the hobby more affordable and the "empty tunic" is the canvas for the artist (restorer) to bring it back to its former glory with parts. I'll be honest about it, a good portion of my tunics have been restored like this. The angled pocket corners is curious but anything is possible I guess. Learned something today!
Thanks for sharing. Hope to see images when its all done, to include a cuff title!

Maybe a stupid question but why is on each Officers jacket in this treadt a EM sleeve eagle on it?

Thanks for the comments, everyone - I just thought I'd keep up on the "updates" as my project continues to progress . . .

Next step is to determine the correct techniques of application - 100% . . . just as you say, John!

                                Not a stupid question . . .

There are only two tunics here . . . the PE tunic came to me as you see it - EM sleeve-eagle and all.

The summer-weight tunic came to me completely stripped of insignia, less the EM sleeve-eagle - and the eagle is so nicely applied (I lean to it possibly being originally-applied at the time of the tunic's manufacture), that it would only be prudent to leave it as is. To me, this tunic seemed like a perfect opportunity to have some fun with collecting . . . when I received it, I thought to myself, why not "restore" it with Officer insignia? The shoulder-straps are made for Officer-grade slip-on boards, and for me, it only seemes right to use Officer insignia . . . even with the EM eagle. It's been a good opportunity for me to study and learn a little about tunics and insignia, and at the same time, have a little fun creating a display for my home.

Who knows - maybe my next "restoration" project (after all it has taken to get this far on this one, will there be another for me?) will offer a better opportunity for collecting Officer-grade sleeve-eagles?
