Please, could somebody comment this one? I m not worried about the insignia or when they were applied to the tunic… is just the wrap itself ok?

Here is an unissued Stug, which I find no fault in whatsoever, the boards were just placed on for show. The devil is in the details in these wrappers, and the interior of the one shown in my opinion falls short. Im not going to say 100 percent that its a copy, as I still think things should be looked over in hand, but as with most things, and certainly SS, I always assume they are repo unless I can clearly point to a checklist of positive. This is probably ten fold true when it comes to something such as an SS Stug wrapper. Im not an expert, cant say I've handled dozens of stug wrappers, however, I've gleaned enough to pull apart the pieces and see where I think they fall short. I will say many of the interior details look very good, but some I'm not entirely comfortable with, so for me, it would come down to hands on inspection. Some of the details I don't like could be manufacturer variants, however, that would have to be thrown into the hopper with what shakes out when held in hand.Attached FilesLast edited by Scott A. I know one collector who has a home in Austria as well as the US and he tells me they have been churning out the SS stug wraps for a while now. They are almost always devoid of insignia...but about half only have a sleeve eagle. He says they are very high quality. It makes me wonder when I see the un-issued SS stug wraps on dealer sites with only a sleeve eagle on them.
Once again the fakers don't want to go to the expense of buying original SS insignia as this makes their investment too costly. Most however, can afford a lowly sleeve eagle. Of course its not much of a stretch to badge one up and add a little wear if your a dealer with loose insignia gathering dust. As they say...buyer beware.

Interesting to see this thread again...and that these continue to be churned out in numbers. Im 100 percent comfortable that the one I have posted is not a Czech, Austrian or other fake, is documented and can be traced back almost two decades. Close comparison of it with other texbook examples of other SS clothing alludes to many many classic details which I do not wish to delve into, but which when compared side by side lead me to conclude it is authentic although I can see how the condition would scare a lot of collectors off. I have an SS Surcoat which is unissued and a one looker, which in my opinion shares so many construction details with my wrapper, that I believe there is a high probability that it was produced at the same facility as this wrapper, and I dont mean "old man in Austria" facility. This particular piece has been seen by several SS collectors whose knowledge I trust, but passed on it due to the price.
