    Planetree helmet covers, second pattern?

    Hi :-)

I'm wondering which pattern of ss helmet covers wehere produced in both the 'plain' type and the one with the foiliage loops.

How common were the one with the foilage loops compared to the one without? To me it seems that the type I is by far the most common, throughout the war?

Perhaps the market value is anything to go by, when figuring out how common the specefic pattern/model was?

    Hello Mikkel,
you will find all wartime platane patterns + oak A&B.

The 2nd type is more scarce, but it is also not as much sought after.

No, the market value is only a general rule, there are scarce things that are relativly cheap and more common things that are expensive.

    Cheers

Fritz, in a way, I agree with you, but when you consider the early covers compare to the later covers, I think we have to consider the extreme casualitys among Waffen SS. they lost a huge amount of soldiers and equipment. In this respect, I would guess the later covers would have a fair chanse to survive. But who knows ????

      Best regards, Tom

        Tom,
I would say that 60-70% of the covers used in 1944 were the wartime type 1, the rest were type 2 and very few prewar type 1 (VT/TV covers).

I forgot to mention blurred edge in my above list, sorry.

        Cheers

        Fritz
