That would be a big surprise for the old lady, who has saved this one hidden in a flowerpot since 1945...

so sorry, it is a common M1/52 fake tk.if you sell it in ebay, maybe it could sell for some money to amateur collectors who don't do their homework

                ...so she claims.

                It is a well-known fake.

The little old lady must be short of both money and integrity.

                    Value of skull

To answer the question about it's value...about $6.00 US.

She is dad - so no bad words about her, please.

I got this - as some other stuff - from time to time by a friend of mine who works at a retirement-place. She knew the skull for a while, but the old lady dont gave it away, as this was - according to her - the only military item left of her husband.

So, obviously those days you cannot even trust the best sources anymore...

My only explanation is, that the husband has bought that one some time ago, as a replacement. Or it was switched by another "collector"...

At least it was free, so no big loss.

"Hidden in a flower pot" is at least a nice change of pace from the "found in the attic/cellar/barn," the "turned up while tilling the farm/garden," or my usual favorite, "found hidden in the floor boards/wall while renovating an old barracks/office."
