        Gary,
        Is your collar patch a #20 on RZM paper tag?

              John,
              Nice set of tabs. Here is my variant embroidered tab, the runes are the same width as the "standard", but are shorter at 29mm high, vs. 31mm for the standard. Material is also more like felt than the standard moleskin or badgecloth.
              Regards,
              Fred

                Side by side with a standard - a manufacturer #20!

                    First of all Nice tabs,
                    I do not see any variants as such above, runic collar insignia comes in many shape and forms and on many different backing materials, moleskin (rayon based fine nap), badge cloth (this is a felt like material), doeskin (woven wool with a nap) and a rayon based gauze type material.

                    Starting to label something as "standard or variant" can become dangerous as are measurements, these are cloth items and are subject to different sizes due to;
                    different manufactures,
                    different periods of manufacture even if by the same maker,
                    different backing materials ,
                    differences in tension on the machine they were made and the position on the embroidery machine;
                    and of course wear and tear
                    so you could have a runic made by Hersteller #20 and it can look completely different due to any of the above

                    cheers,
                    Gary
                    PS below are a few m/e runic collar insignia to give you an idea of what I mean,
