    ss tunic marking

Hello. Black stamp that looks like SL40 on M40 tunic. What does SL mean? Thanks

Can you post a close-up of the interior markings?
From what you describe it seems you are talking about a depot stamp, although I don't exactly know for which depot SL stood for. S = Salzburg, St= Stettin. Has the tunic got a maker mark of any kind?

I looked at the photos and the marking is St40 representing the Army Depot at Stettin and year 1940.

The tunic may well have been used by an SS officer but it started life as a Heer contract tunic processed at the Depot in Stettin.
