Hello. Am I right in thinking that the SD used SS rank insignia? Thanks

yes first allgemeine ss ,then waffen ss,for shoulderboards waffen had green underlay as far as collar tabs in place of runes a blank one was used but rank side remained alike.cufftitles were usually blank other than haptaumt i believe.

SD shoulderboards are like shutzpolizei except the inner cords and v's are black. in the beginning when the black and early field grey uniforms were worn it was Allgemeine style straps. There is a c/t for the SD school and one for the Hauptamt and a blank one have seen one that was foriegn or field made for Kommando 1005
