    restoration question-ss insignia

Hi. Does anyone know if someone in an artillery regiment of the Prinz Eugen mountain division would wear red piped shoulder straps for arty or green for mountain troops? Thanks

He would wear RED for artillery. Mountain troopers wore the green. The Prinz Eugen Division was a Gebirgs-Division; however, there were many support units, like pioniere (black), panzerjager (pink), nachrichten (yellow), artillery (red), medical (dark-blue), etc. They wore their respective branch colors.

In the biographical photobook by Kumm, "Prinz Eugen im Bild", I recall many photos of uniforms WITHOUT the edelweiss (?), as well as many with - both enlisted men and Officers. I also recall many photos of Officers that did not wear the Odal Rune on their collars. It seems that there may have been a mix-and-match of combinations, and I'm sure there are legitimate reasons behind it all . . .
