    1st SS NCO shoulder boards

I have a question regarding 1st SS NCO shoulder boards. I don't know if this is the correct forum area I should ask this question, but here it goes. I am a reenactor in a 1st SS unit and I am putting together an NCO impression. I am wondering if NCO's in the 1st SS more commomly used embroibered LAH shoulder boards or used metal LAH ciphers for their boards?

As a general rule that may be true but I think SS-Unterscharfuhrer wore the embroidered LAH ciphers. The upper NCOs wore the metal ciphers. I say this because you can see many era photos of them being worn, especially early in the war with the ciphers embroidered directly onto the straps.
