Please post VERY CLOSEUP pics of the threads that are dangling. They're probably cotton, but do a burn test anyway on one of those loose threads as well. CLIP IT OFF THE CAP FIRST !!!!

I don't care for the the shape of the bill. It seems like it has too perfect of an arch. I believe on most original caps, the bill lies flatter from age, and many times is misshapen or the stiffener is creased. Looks too perfect.

I just noticed that the cap is propped up by a ball of paper. Can you also post a pic from the front to see how the cap sits on it's own, without the the paper holding it up?

Most likely the case if the bill stiffener is constructed from cardboard, but however I believe that I have seen original M43 hats in which the internal stiffener for the bill was constructed from vulkenfibre or a similar material.

It was not always cardboard used in the bill's manufacture.

That's a good point. Other observations. The stitching is peculiar in that it appears to be very loose. The button appears to be replaced or resewn. The button thread seems awfully clean. Is the button sewn on with the same thread as the cap stitching? I believe that would be very unusual. Buttons are usually sewn on with heavier duty button thread. If the button thread WAS replaced, it wouldn't be exactly like what the cap is stitched with. How about CLOSEUPS of loose cap thread AND button thread?
