If you want you can "wash" it in cold pure water, that will remove some of the remains of the washing powder and it will not harm it.

These remains are really annoying, I have seen it once or twice with items I have picked up, people wanted to be kind and washed it with a overdose of washing powder. Eversince I say "please don't wash!".

I remember a gentleman who "cleaned" his CCC with a wire brush.

But again, I really like your smock and I can understand you can't get enough comments on it.

The colours are not washed-out, but naturally faded: IF the fading would have been done by the washing, the camo-cloth used for the construction of the pockets would be faded, too. But as the colours in those areas (which are always hidden from the sun) are brilliant (post 20), the conclusion is: natural fading.
