The buttons are a very light green and all original to this tunic no other buttons were sewn on.

Have at it ...I have no fixed idea about this one and would love to hear opinions.I rarely ask for opinions so here is a chance to share it with me without my rebuttle that at times irks people.

Of coarse I would like good explinations but I will settle for one liners too.

I will give the damaged, repaired, but i like what i see. Think collar tab was probably resewn but to make it look more even or to replace a stripped one is anyones guess. I do lean more to replaced due to signs of other insignia once being there, but a fun restoration project. Matt

                John,

On my monitor it seems pretty clear where an eagle was. Sometimes there is a great variance from computer/monitor types and I'm on a Mac and not a PC. Hopefully thats not just wishful thinking on my part. I like the various types of repairs, this would be a fun tunic to examine in person. This was just at a glance and I will come back and give it closer scrutiny.

...i like tunic tabs and repairing... i'm thinking about quite all collectors judge it as good. also interesting are the official tab: piping was applied with bad work... and this bad work was done by the man/woman who sticched the tab at tunic.

but for sure this isn't a tunic we would have in collection. we live difficult collecting-days...

                          Hi,

So what is the verdict on the tunic? Does everyone feel the tunic was postwar restored or period done? Or everyone feel they do not know what way to make a opinion on this item? For me it is a hard call, Reason I am not a expert on subject, so I am not qualified to say.
                          I am just curious.

                          Thanks Joe Semen

                            Hi John,

I think it is good. It is not an upgraded army tunic and clearly looks like it started its days as an ss. Wear, tear and repairs are consistent with a field worn tunic.

I will honestly say that everything points to it being the real deal but the repairs are very curious and I took a UV to it and different strengths of loops no breast eagle signs to be found on it. Although in one pic I do see an angle shade that might look like it but in person its not there. The buttons are also not common on the modern fakes made from this material they are in fact buttons often associated with earlier SS tunics having a slight gold appearance from a distance but actually being light green. Here is some bug damage under the collar an area that shows the most age.
I have decided to go back to more common items Heer tunics, badges, medals etc. Financially its easier and my interest was strong there but SS took up all the funds so Im offering this on the estand at a decent price for those who always email me asking for a less expensive one for thier collection here is your opportunity.

Let me add, with proof that it was unaltered post war it would be sold for alot more by any dealer.

Or for the ones being offered pure garbage as seen in a couple other threads this is a better start.

PS Im still open to opinions.
