How did it get smashed? When I was around 15 years old, my mother bent a cap eagle in half thinking it will help me to understand her impression of the evils of collecting German relics. Maybe someones mother put that one in a vice or used a hammer on it.

apparently it was dug from a battlefield like that, so will probably never know , but at least not done by any1 postwar, just done a search on previous thread it once belonged to besslein, and was found in oppeln where the ss estland fought, cheers dave
