                    .

It looks ok to me, but as always you never know when the insignia was attatched. I would not knock yourself out over that though because the key is to have an all original item in the long run. People are kidding themselves if they think most insignia was not removed but IMO alot of whats out there is also untouched but without proof of that. As long as you got a good feeling and youre happy with it.

                    Best,

                    Pete

                      cap

Most SS bevo traps were machine sewn with a straight stitching. Most wool traps were zig-zag stitched. That doesn't mean it's not original, but suggests it may possibly have been sewn on post war. With many SS caps having the insignia removed after capture, I could live with a put-together cap if I was sure the cap was actually an SS cap. Even if the cap is an original, many army caps have been converted to SS caps after the war. Resale of a cap like this will bring less than one with a machine-stitched insignia.

I like the construction and the materials (very fine wool). It looks very convincing to me, but I agree that the trap might have been added at a later date (restored), which does not bother me too much. THUMBS UP!! I would repost it in the hat section for additional imput!!!
