Well he certainly isn't buying the US $10 to $11K caps that are currently available. Anything over $5000 is to be considered as high end these days.

To elaberate on Robin's point, here is the story from the Sun newspaper back in 1973

        Gotta Love it!

Well maybe he did deserve that Close Combat Clasp in Gold he wore on his "Gestapo" Uniform.

Boy I'll say!!! And now I know why he was wearing that cross-strap so late in the war too. He wanted to give Mary Ure a bit of a working-over! (not a bad idea - too late now though )

While I'm on the subject, I have to say that Mary Ure and Ingrid Pitt were two of the most oomph-able babes I've ever seen in a war movie.

Yep, Kurt Jurgens is another one. He was good in the 'The Enemy Below' as the U-Boat Kapitan, but the bullion badges on his white-top are hard to ignore. He was also good in 'Sgt Steiner' as the plotting general, although that movie didn't quite come together. Another actor in that one I like is Klaus Lowitch. He was in 'The Odessa File' as well.

In my first post, I mistakenly said Anton Diffring was in 'The Eagle Has Landed'. I meant 'The Blue Max'. <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

sturmbannfurhrer, you are right. who buys a 10K SS hat when the rich guys now stop buying and lose interest. This shows how vulnerable some of the prices we are paying for this stuff are to a change in taste or circumstances of the market.

Will be interesting in 25 years to just see what SS caps are selling for then.

Hopefully I will last that long and maybe a bit more, Chris
