As much as I hate to do anything which might help a crook like Sid, I can't allow the honest forum members out there get confused by this thread. So, though it pains me to say so, Sid's eagle is actually original.
On the brighter side, since he insisted that I didn't know what I was talking about when I informed him that some of his other items (which he was trying to sell as original) were fake, I am sure that he will refuse to accept my verdict that this one is original.

Huh it looks like other known fakes to me but I have only had two original m1/17 eagles before. I can tell you it has a different back die than the one I posted. Here is a fake that it looked like to me.Comment

No, that one is the fake which has the front, which mimics the old 360 fakes. You can see the sneering beak and the crooked breast feather, among several distinctive characteristics of this fake, which are not on Sid's. His is, in fact, a fairly rare aluminum version.
