Here's an interesting thread regarding the KM coastal type and SS overseas cap patterns. I own a KM coastal cap with that so-called SS false crown piping and its clearly BAW marked...(BekleidungsAmt Wilhelmshaven)
(So the other way around!)
With that said anything is possible... its just a manufacturer's variation but I also agree with Bob Hritz that KM coastal caps are often different in color (lighter shade of green).

It just depends who is sewing the seams whether the roll-over is larger or smaller. A better sewing artisan wouuld make tighter and smaller roll-over.
Another collector myth that is just the result of looking for some special touch to identify SS overseas caps. My Luftwaffe overseas caps have varying degrees of the roll over, but would hardly be mistaken for SS because of the color. What is today's rule on Luftwaffe overseas caps?

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.
I m agree with bob on this ..I also think the big stamp size mark only is classic waffen style for non marker marked stuff..And there are waffen ss m43 caps and overseas caps that are now coastal artillery and coastal artillery caps and m43s that are now waffen.. NOT ALL the comversions where done post war to hump up the value into a waffen cap..JMHO Billbert
