    Some answers

    Hello guys!
Thank you very much for all the comments on the hat. Today I called the man who sold me the cap, and I will visit him tomorrow. He is 58 years old, and have never collected anything. His words was like this:
"I don't understand anything about this. All I have is the things that my father left us after his death. I never bother to learn about his past, since I was reminded about it all through my younger years."

He will find some other stuff that belonged to his father by tomorrow. And then we'll find out where he served. I know that for those of you who are into Waffen-SS, Legionen or Norge would know where this person served.
But in respect of his family I wont tell it.

As he said - "I have been called and written by people the past 10 years since my father died, if I could give them information or sell them stuff. I have always said that there is nothing left, and I don't want to have any contact with shallow strangers."

Why I got in contact with him? He contacted me regarding one photo I had that was on print in the local newspaper.

Well - his father served in Legionen

First when I met him he was not sure what unit he served under. But there was no doubt when he found his dog tag and some citations.

                  And dog tag

                  Still in good condition.

And just to repeat with what he said. Why should he try to do anything with the cap. It has just been laying there. If someone have tampered with it , it must have been his father or mother. He never saw it with the eagle, and guessed that it had been removed before he was born in 1949.

                            overseas cap

I agree with Bob Hritz, these overseas cap made in this pattern are definitely for the SS , the Coastal Artillery hats are a different color, at the most it seem to be a manufacturinguring detail .

Here is a Coastal Artillery overseas cap.
The colour is much greener. Also what I've noticed, is the double sticking lines inside the cap. I've marked it red. The one showed in this thread hasn't got these futures, so I would guess it is W-SS.
