Today I took some pictures from one of my SS-Führerdegen.
Then hours later I thought about the black SS/RZM silk tag that is dated for the year 35. Interesting early date as I read in the Wittman book "prescribing the manner of wear for the SS Portepee are dated 9. March 1936 ... assumed authorized the production of the new SS Degen at about the same time". According to this tag we have to date the production earlier to somewhere around end of 35. This example is from one awarded B36 Degen where still the original knot is attached to.

The SS Officer's portapee came out or was introduced before the actual "Official" SS Officer's degen. That is why we find period tied knots on early Army swords, and documented by period pictures featuring the same.
