SS Embroidered Runic Tab

I've had this tab a few years and I would like comments. It appears to be hand-embroidered. Is this rare/common? Any idea of value?

It is machine embroidered, worth about 425.

It might be interesting to note that the machine embroidery from the 1940's isn't quite as perfect as the machine embroidery of today. This imperfection is what initially made me think it might be hand embroidered.
