Aluminum 360/42 is a copy. I would not believe the 360/44 is original either.

Many years ago, I was fooled on the 360/42 sets as well as the 380/40, which were completely different. Of course, we learn something every day, but there are many who truely believe these are original wartime insignia.
I will say that the current prices are usually somewhat higher for original SS hat inisgnia.
