                Skull

I'm sure the early style skull in the last photo is a reproduction.
Photo of original is enclosed for comparison.

                  Ring, it is OK!

It is one of those that have been found in Berlin couple years ago!

That story about "BIG" find in Berlin is pretty lame.

But it is true, the skulls are part of Berlin horde big found.

                          Hi

I don' think the skull posted from the Berlin hoard.

It does not have the sawtooth edges to the prongs found on those types.

That story is often used by many dealers to cover up copies.

                              Skull

If so, I stand corrected. There is another post (Jan. 28, 2008) by GRAN SASSO with photos that covers this subject. Despite a German newspaper reporting this find, it doesn't hurt to be skeptical. Stashing a whole pile of cap insignia to be "discovered" is not impossible. A call to the local newspaper to report the find then seals the deal and gives provenance. Paranoid? Of course. But not impossible. The wonderful photo of this insignia on a Kav.5 regiment cap posted by Mr. Lumsden on the post I mentioned above shows the same insignia, but the skull has much better detail. ANY period photo of a cap showing this "Berlin find" style insignia with it's poor detail would certainly confirm. That may be impossible. I'm NOT saying the Berlin find is bogus. Just some thoughts.
