    SS Cloth Cap Insignia - Does it have a chance??

        For my learning purposes, what is wrong with the cap insignia? Is it the nose and jaw of the skull?? because that is what looked bad about it to me.

          NOTHING wrong!! I think you misunderstood. The nose, jaw, eagle and everything is completely textbook. Most of these "Dachau" traps seem to have MINOR variations, but also many distinct features. Your patch looks completely authentic.

            I was thrown off by the "Pirate Trap", Good to hear it is in fact authentic.

                    Here is an update for you guys, I have just bought the SS "pirate trap" insignia along with a couple other items.

                    I also added new pictures, sadly there is some glue on the back. Should I leave it as is?? I am still interested to know what it is worth.

                        The glue on the pirate trap you should just leave alone IMO nice one by the way Price for this one I would think would be around 350$ but lets hear what others has to say

                          Hi Rylan, I am pleased that you got all the items

                          Re the glue on the back: I would not mess with it. Certainly don't try to wash it out. If you are brave and very careful it, may flake off with the use of a blade. But I honestly would not mess with it.

                            Agree 100%. It's on the back and hurts nothing. Over the years I've purchased items that had been glued in a vet's 'memories album' that have this sort of remains on them and have always left them alone.

                            Sadly, the fakers have occasionially glued items on old scrapbook paper and them ripped them from the paper adding the cachet of 'right from the vet's album'!

                            Leave it alone, it's super as is!

                            Attached is a pic from an album where the vet used cellophane tape. Interesting in that some of the insignia is sideways and even upside down!

                              Hmm $350 eh? Any second opinions? I will probably post this on the e-stand, should I start it at $400 and reduce until it sells?

                              It is sad, but I think I have to sell this one, I have to fund the other items I just bought.

                              Thanks for all comments, I am VERY happy with this purchase. It is not ever day I buy a nice lot like this.
