I don't think anyone can doubt the breathtaking quality of the piece which clearly speaks to you and is redolent of the period.

I think I am correct in believing the ink well on the left would traditionally be filled with the blood of virgins and the one on the right would be for other non-specific innocents, or just bog standard ink.

It is based on an original set presented to Count Dracula for winning the annual cheese throwing contest three years in a row. The original set is believed to be in a collection in America.

I have seen reproductions which had a different engraved inscription. From memory it read 'My friend went to Transylvania and all I got was this lousy skull-themed writing set'.

I am sorry to say that new firm evidence showed up, confirming that Heydrich had not such a writing set on his desk.
Infact, Heydrich seemed to have passed the pen and ink era completely...

              Desk Set

On the contrary.....This photo proves that the desk set DID exist !! Notice that Heydrich is staring at the exact spot on his desk where it was earlier when he last used it. Someone obviously borrowed it and failed to return it, as evidenced by his pained expression. It is also well known that the townsfolk often like to play practical jokes on Heydrich.

Robin, I vaguely recognise the document in his hands as a Nacht und Nebel decree.
I suggest you stay awake tonight?

                          Desk Set

Actually, the look on Heydrich's face suggests he'd just heard another one of those rumors questioning his lineage. On a serious level, I never took much stock in rumors such as these, as it was common for a person's enemies to try to cast suspicion on them.

No, he was missing another Heinrich gift- the honor toaster. Seldom encountered in todays collection. It had a similar engraving on the toasts as the honor rings
