It is like I can almost hear Heydrich saying to Himmler:

'But Heini, don't we think this is a little over the top? Where in the name of a Jewish God did we find that?'

And then Himmler unveiled the secret: 'I ordered it online at: http://www.alchemygothic.com/ '

Original or not, from who ever it might have been: some people had a really bad taste those days...

Don't laugh, I could swear that is where I saw this piece originally and I have seen it.

I would expect that a Heydrich or HH present would have more quality in the details

Didn't it originally come with a painting of Elvis on black velvet?

These personality pieces can be difficult, but this piece steps over what I call the "Hokey Line" its probably an original desk set but I don't know about the honor plaque and those skulls.

I don't like these things generally as most original personality pieces are subdued in reality. I would run I think. But what the hell do I know.

                        Hi

That is a quality website. I imagine that Himmler would have loved one of these gear knobs to continue the theme

                                Desk set

First of all, where did the story originate that it was a gift from Heydrich?
Second........No way in holy hell this is original. This set is something that Hollywood would imagine to be on Heydrich's desk, not something that actually resided there. The previous post was correct...most presentation items were tasteful and understated.
