I posted my m34 over on the GHW a few weeks ago. That week, two others were posted as well. Both of them were every bit as nice (if not nicer) than mine. Which is the rarer of the two styles, the feldgrau SS/VT or the black?? Lately I've seen a boat load of really nice black m34's.

Its not correct whats said in this thread, there are other original tags as well inside the black caps. Or how do you think the germans back then should know how to wash them?

            Sepp-

That's one beautiful black overseas cap you have. I love it
Truly rare and very hard to find in this conditon (or any condition!)

Thanks for sharing it with us.

              Rob,
Thanks a lot!! When I bought it it had no Totenkopf button. I finally found a suitable nickel button here from a forum member (thanks Kale) to reunite with the cap. The button is a RZM SS 63.
Don't tell anyone but the "S" ring is a repro. Hopefully I'll find an original at the SOS!
DOAH! I just posted my secret to the whole list! I hate it when that happens!

Now there's honesty! I would never have guessed, that button looks original to the cap (to me, anyway)

                  Cap

About 10 years ago a friend and I picked up a lot of uniform items from a Vet and an unissued stone mint A. SS overseas was one of them, it was marked exactly like this but still had a paper tag inside with the price. We split the collecton that we bought and he got it. He sold it for 1600.00 then.

It may very well be. That cap had a button(s) during the period of wear and the button that is on it now may have been on it then! Who knows for sure?
