what cap is this?

I picked up this photo at Allentown today and searched this forum looking for a 'live' example of the cap the guy below is wearing, but no luck.

BTW, the photo is dated 1936 on the reverse

Could someone post photos or direct me to some?

That's the one. The eagle on Collector's Guild looks a little different (longer wing span) but the "Feldmütze für SS" is dated '1938' so that might explain it.

I'm surprised there aren't any posted here on this forum...are these that rare/uncommon?
