    Kale,

I have kept out because I do not know, in that era where no piping was worn, on the pointed end NCO boards.

I post here a slightly later (I think) board, from the 1936 era. The LAH cypher appears to be a little taller than on the slip on tab.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

      Your'e Right

      Bob,

I think the board I mentioned had the taller LAH as yours does. Though if I remeber right it was also unpiped like mine. Has anyone seen that EKII / IAB award ceremony footage with Dietrich presenting ? Cause there are at least one or two pointed boards with tresse in wear, possibly unpiped .

      Thanks Bob,
      Kale

Thanks for posting this excellent and beautiful picture.

I noticed that at the start of this threat, some 10 years ago, I was apparently of the opinion that this design was non-existent and the presented strap a fake.

I've come a long way these past 10 year and nowadays own 2 or 3 of these straps/designs. In the meantime I am convinced of their originality. No doubt about them.

I think it's the right thing to do to correct my earlier mistake.

Does anyone have a clear idea of when this cypher design was used or better introduced?

            I tend to say 1935 +/-.

I own quite a few LAH straps and boards nowadays with only a few missing. There were a lot of designs though the 12 years of the Leibstandarte's existence.

I feel that this design here is the rarest of them all together with the 1st type small (smaller than the 2nd type winding cypher) metal officer cypher on cord-strap.

            Cheers,
            Markus
