Stripped SS summer tunic good or bad?

I just won this tunic off of eBay for $22.50. I don't actually collect SS, so this was actually meant for an sslah stabscharfuehrer (speiss) display with repro insignia. It's being sold as an old repro. Is there any chance that this is real? I hope so, but if it isn't, I really don't care as it ends up cheaper than that repro M37 i was gonna buy. I don't have it in my hands, yet, but when I get it, I will try a blacklight test.

PS: I think this is your tunic, colt45s.

It looks white rather than tan and the shoulder board is for allgemiene ss , but if the shoulder board is good you got a great deal

Not much to go on. From the front, the cut is right..however the appearance of the white material looks like it is going to GLOW.

It is white, I didn't mean tropical summer, I meant the M39/38 summer tunic. The shoulder board is for A-SS only? I though all of the SS used it on the M32/38/39...

Thanks, I got the tunic. I didn't check back on this in a while so sorry about the message i sent you on ebay asking for update. OK anyway, the thread does not glow at all. The fabric glows only if you put the black light up real close... The shoulder boards and whats left of the armband are sewn in before the lining was closed. All of the lining is machine sewn. Except 3 of them, all of the buttons are the same. 8 of the buttons (Pockets and front) are marked

            M5
            69

in a circle and the RZM symbol. The two buttons on the back are assmann EXTRA FEIN. The shoulder board button is the only hollow back one with a B inside. Collar underside has zig zag stitching.

There are award loops on the left (of wearer) upper pocket and green oxidation all around it. An EK1 will not fit it, I tried with a repro, the pin was too short.

I found an index card in the pocket with these following words handwritten:

            WHITE DINNER JACKET
            TECHNICAL SERGEANT "ADOLF
            HITLER"

            SS SPORTS BADGE (NETHERLANDS

            243

There is evidence of a removed cufftitle, which is probably confirmed to be a LAH one now... The awards loops may have been for the Dutch SS Sports badge? But since this is a LAH tunic isn't it incorrect?...

There are no inside pockets, no tailor label, and no RZM tag.

It has none of the two special belt hooks for the M32 tunic either and the back buttons are not the belt ramp ones, but regular ones... I am not sure whether these two features were M32 specific, or also on the M39.

It has the inside belt closure at the front.

I am inclined to think this is an early Movie/TV used tunic with use of original insignia.

Is it smart to have it dry cleaned? I wont have it sent to a cleaner probably and use one of those dry clean at home things.

How about some nice photos from the straight front and back and from the inside?

I have a relatively poor 4 megapixel camera... Hopefully it will take a decent picture for once. I will post them later tonight if my attempts are successful...

I wouldn't use any dry cleaning agents on this if it original it will break down the fabric

                      Tunic

I strongly recommend not cleaning it, unless it's determined to be a fake. For those who absolutely INSIST on cleaning garments......cold water, no detergents, blot on large towels, hang to dry. That is....If you INSIST!!

I'll have my doubts that this is an original white SS dress tunic.

That's OK. In this condition, I''ll just clean it, buy a repro Armband and LAH cufftitle and restore it (They'll end up costing more than the tunic itself) I'm gonna badge up another tunic as if I were to badge up this one, I would have to get two shoulder boards, get rid of the existing one, and get a sleeve eagle, with the wartime medals present and such. Does anyone else have an opinion?

OK, I am going to restore this with reproduction insignia. The tunic glows, but the thread does not, so I am pretty sure it is a fake. I think the insignia left (Buttons, strap) might be real, might as well leave it on. colt45s, If you remember, I have some questions for you.
What rank were the original collar tabs?
Did they have piping around them? If so, Silver, or silver and black?
If you removed the LAH cufftitle, was it BEVO, Embroidered, or bullion?
If you removed the armband, was it cotton, wool, or BEVO, and how many pieces was it constructed with?
Did it come with a Dutch SS sports badge? If so, what grade?
