back to Landwacht (later) Landstorm Nederland

For you Kees! There are very few pictures showing the exploding grenade tabs in wear by Landwacht/Landstorm troops (usually blank or SS rune tabs were observed) but here are some more examples ! Lets start with this period news paper clipping showing an officer (Dutch cadre member) at a funeral of a Landwacht soldier, wearing the exploding grenade collar tab on his tunic! Sorry for the poor quality... but its the larger size (metal) grenade tab, clearer in the original image! Flanking the officer are Dutch NSB members.

      Landwacht-Landstorm officers

These are Dutch Landwacht (early Landstorm) officers, Dutchmen who are wearing black Dutch NSB or WA or Police breeches along with their Landwacht/Landstorm SS tunics! Again exploding grenade collar patches...unfortunately barely visible...
      Still an interesting image!

        The Landstorm collar-tabs & insignia...

        Dear all,

Here is my little contribution: at the end of the war basically everything was worn and not always following the regulations!

Hereby two other nice 'Landstorm' portraits from my collection wherein this is clearly proven.....nice combination of eagle/grenade & grenade/skull....enjoy!

        Best regards,

        Coco

Here's a visor that used to be in my collection.

            It's "Velser Politie".

                    Landstorm Nederland, continued

Thanks again, Nick (and Bob and Coco and...) Those pictures and insignia brings alive a piece of history of the Landwacht and Landsturm Nederland, interesting and worth wile a further search (for me). Any help is welcome of corse. The period 1944 - 1945 is not that easy to documentate on pictures. It seems that most of insignia is thrown away, burned or dissapeared.

For the time beeing thanks again!
                    Kees

While on the subject of rare tabs, Bob have you happen to have/or came across Trident or Belorussian double-cross tabs? I only seen illustrations of those.

                          thanks and credit

Thanks to Dave,Kees,Nik,Coco and all the others who added solid data to accompany this thread. It is fascinating to see how different countries imprint cultural and national identity in the militaria insignia they wear, even when under spheres of influence from another power.
Until now I was unaware of the importance of the "flaming grenade" in Holland ( France and Italy were my instincts, and pioneer units to boot). Totally off on these .....*lightbulb above head* no light...Again, kudos to all on the epiphany of knowledge imparted. Hey, if a friend ever passed me black tabs, with tarnished metal grenades again....I'll id them myself!

Credit to : Derek Chapman (hands on inspecton) who confirmed Id of these tabs. I am priviledged to have a cloth oracle so close to me geographically. Thanks D!

Thank you: My co-worker Phil, who got me these just before his dear ol' Mum gave them the heave-ho ( I don't want this Nazi stuff in the house!---there were armbands and medals together with these tabs).

I wont be keeping the tabs (or selling either), but I appreciate all the PM's. Trading in this collecting scenario is sometimes the only way of helping you acquire the items of interest to you. Down the road, I hope to do that.

                          Ciao

the landstorm collartab where only in metal bob the exploding grenade (my opinion ).
there is also a delta fake from a embroid landstorm collartab.

                            regards johan
