It astonishes me how many collectors' only criteria seem to be that it looks old and has a "good number." I had a bidder sitting next to me at a live auction lean over to me while a poor repro TK was on the block and ask, "that number is good, isn't it?" He was ready to bid simply beacuse this POS was marked "M1/52," as if no faker could ever get the numbers right. In his simple mind, so long as the "number is good," the item must be original. Perhaps more amazing is that, in spite of all of the data that is at their fingertips in this digital information age, people still throw money at some of that crap on eBay and elsewhere which bear markings which match no known original. They are so foolish and/or lazy that they mindlessly bid, without taking a brief moment to Google that number to see if it is bogus. Sad.
