I do appreciate all of your comments and could use more comments. This fake needs to be exposed as well as the one who sold it.

Knowing Jim Calhoun you won't get any satisfaction out of it... his 'world famous' guarantee is all bull****. I remember a few years back I had found his website and captured pictures of a camouflaged field cap with insignia and a price tag of $4,000. I sent it to a few friends --- they knowing that it was a fake as I had advised them. One of these friends showed the picture to his wife and said that's what he wanted someday. His wife not knowing the difference and thinking that it was real, put a $4,000 bid on it. I happened to look at his website again and noticed somebody bid on it and the moniker was familiar. I contacted my friend and he told me he just found out about it. She was emailing and calling Calhoun to retract her bid. The retract bid function on ePier didn't work either. He wouldn't let her out of the bid. She asked me what she should do and I told her under NO CIRCUMSTANCES send him any money because you'll never see it again. She refused, he got all indignant with her and cussed her out and ePier jumped all over him for his excesses. That could have been an expensive mistake.

I have had the unfortunate pleasure of knowing Mr. Calhoun since the early 1990's and learned the hard way a long time ago not to any business with him. But, he is still able to take atvantage of others and in this situation I hope this post may help yet another of Mr. Calhoun's victims get something back if nothing more than the satisfaction of knowing what sort of a person he really is.

I know of many, many, many incidents like the one you mentioned and if you do a search in the forum you will see a few of his exposed frauds. Most of what I know is from having had the unfortunate luck to be stationed in the same town he based his fraud operation out of - Schweinfurt Germany.

Here are some of his exploits captured in the WAF.

          Wow

This Calhoun character makes Charlie Snyder appear likable. I actually pulled out the book of "People to Avoid" and wrote this Guys information down. If I ever quit my current profession and start a new one in the field of "Professional Assassin" I will have to practice a bit first to work off the edges. Yes, Ma'm that is a round trip to Schweinfurt, name? Strangelove, Doctor Strangelove.

This Calhoun character sounds like a true piece of work. Dealers like this are nothing but crooks, just preying off the inexperienced collector. Just terrible

BTW, that cap is a fake.

Mr. Calhoun told my friend that he "does not collect/sell militaria by committee" , I assume he means that he expects his customers to buy this junk and never ask anyone else for a second opinion.

Another example of the world famous Landser Militraia Guarantee.

If you want to see what Jim Calhoun is up to these days check out the links below:

If you want a good laugh, check out these videos and pics Calhoun posted on his My Space page. He is very pathetic, mainly talking about his ex-girlfriend who evidently finally told him to take a hike.

Here is the other one made shortly after the first:

                  Here is his pathetic profile:

                  http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndid=397149398

And 57 pages of pictures, very interesting notes he adds to the pics. Kind of contradicts a lot of what he says in the videos, but that is the narcissistic Jim that I knew.

Holy crap, I knew Jim had a screw loose but now I've read some of his pathetic rambling, I'm sure the guy must be completely insane.
How ironic is it that after screwing over hundreds of people, he gets screwed over by his own fiancee?! That's just beautiful.
I remember her name well, he used her paypal account to steal money from me.
Well, well, now I know what he looks like, I can't wait to bump into him someday.

He is evidently in Florida now trying to pretend that he joined the Army...again.

I have known him for many years and some things never change. Actually I think he has changed now and more for the worse. I think he gives a new meaning to the phrase "bottom of the barrel".

He screwed over his first wife, everyone he did business with, his freinds and now... finally his last girlfriend and wonders why he has to go see a therapist and contimplate suicide. Do they actually let guys like that back in the Army?

He is a total failure and scam artist. These videos are just more proof what a looser he really is.

                        Landser...

I've bought several repro items from Landser, never seen anything represented as 'original', located in So. California .... http://www.landser.com/about-us.aspx

                          ok -

no expert but seen a lot: the sweatband has lots of wear, the lining, none. and the sweatshield is probably "bendy" plastic, right? and the stamped-on-the-lining markings are unlike any I've seen over decades. also the insignia appear ... suspicious.

others know much more' they'd probably tell you to a) buy some reference books, and b) take the time - ok it might take hours - to locate STUDY the relevant WAF threads.

there are no short-cuts to Wisdom in these matters.
