    Officers tunic and cap

I believe here we have another example of a "1944" marked cap and the SS officers tunics I was wondering if anybody has seen up close?

The tunic looks strange to me, almost looks like a stripped waffenrock tunic, but since officers were provided with a clothing allowance, why would an SS officer buy something like this with many of the characteristics of a waffenrock, including all those buttons down the front and that tail piece? I wouldn't accept this piece into my collection.

It is a pre 1936 Heer Alter Art or Old Style tunic. Since the W-SS did not exist pre 1936 I find it pretty hard to explain this one. It would also be interesting to hear how the one collar is moth eaten yet the tab stitching that goes through that area was unaffected by the mothing.
