    W-SS Overseas Cap

    Hi folks,
I may be selling off this cap down the road. Please let me know if it has any red flags. Here is the link: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...34#post2349934

    Thank You,

If by "red flags" you mean fake insignia, then, yes, it has a couple.

      SS eagle

Eagle looks to be an original scarce variant.

          Hello,
I don't believe it has fake insignia.

            Hi Billbert,
Here is a picture I took in 1979 at a local Arizona gunshow. You can see this exact cap perched on top of a gasmask canister. As I have said, I have had it a long time.

            Regards,
            Jody

The eagle is believed by some to be a scarce variant. I remain of the contrary opinion. The reverse of these eagles is unlike any other period machine woven style. Moreover, two similar eagles in this thread both were applied to caps using the same odd folding technique which is also inconsistent with period methods of attachment IMO:

As for the skull, it is 100% fake. No question.

Agree, Fakes were well underway by 1979.
