    French volunteers

    Hallo

Did the French volunteers in WSS wear the arm shield on the left or right arm?

In Angolia´s book on page 387 there is a Frence volunteers who has the France national shield on the right side. Most of the other nations national shield was placed on the left side or what?

    Thanks

The soldat in the book is wearing a Heer pattern LVF patch, which was worn on the right sleeve. Look up some info on the LVF and you will see this patch in the same manner of wear. The WSS French patch differs in that it's not stylized like the Heer, matching the typical WSS shield design, and is void of the word FRANCE above it. That patch was worn on the left sleeve. I don't know why a soldat would be wearing a Heer patch in 1944, but I don't find it too strange. Hope this helps.

This must be the one with the word "France" on the top!
