    Ss Side-lace Boots !

I purchased this interesting pair of SS-marked side-lace boots at the recent MAX show in Monroeville, PA. I have never seen another pair like them. The construction really intrigues me. Does anyone have any ideas for what purpose these boots may have been designed?

The markings read VA 110/41 SS (with both the VA and the SS within a circle)

These are Fallschirmjager boots, not Waffen-SS

Was the 'VA' still applicable at this date ? .... AND since when was the still fledgling Waffen-SS buying Fallschirmjaeger boots ? ... something 2-3 years distant.

                  Too many questions perhaps ?

                      Va 110/41 Ss

                      Dear Ian,

YES - the VA was most definitely still "in the picture" at this particular date (1941).

The boots' "fallschirmjaeger connection" has not been established to any degree. In fact, I feel that any connection to airborne soldiers is highly unlikely. So your conclusion that the VA was purchasing footwear 2 - 3 years in advance (for a unit that was not yet created) is therefore erroneous.

                      Respectfully,

                      GREG E.

Probably I wrong, but I think that this boots was used by the officer over the trouser (for exemple with the greatcoat)...just one idea..
