    Need your thoughts and opinions

    Hi guys
I would like to hear your thoughts on this set of officer-tabs: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=253316

IMO it looks like a nice salty set but what puzzles me is the different in the size of the tabs. The rank side is smaller than the rune tab is this acceptable?

Please let me know what you think

    All the best
    Lars

I've seen different sized collar tabs but they are usually matched up before putting them on a tunic. I know of a pair that were probably Dutch made that are slightly larger than normal; however, both tabs are the same size.

I'm not all that thrilled about these collar tabs: the runes don't look quite right but it could be the angle of the picture. Always ask for straight on shots. I also believe if this man was an SS-Untersturmfuhrer, that the three pips on the rank collar tabs go the other way, from low on the front to high on the back.

I would definitely like more and better pictures of these tabs. With what I see thus far, I would pass on them... need beter shots.

      Orignal but not matching.

Looks like both are original but not a matching pair, I get the feeling that the whole thing is put together, with the rank pips.

Look close, Bob, and you can see the original pip holes in the locations you speak of, front and back. I think the two remaining pips that are on there were just poorly replaced. Probably by a GI who didn't have half as much interest in the 'important little details' as we do! I think they both look very good, but as mentioned above, a mismatched set.

What I'm saying Brian is as you look at the rank tab flat, the first pip on the left side should be at the Southwest corner, the center in the center, and the one on the right should be in the Northeast corner. Regardless of who put the pips on the tab, it's wrong and now you have two holes in the wrong place, thus screwing up a good collar tab.

If you look closely, you can see the three original holes in the correct positions. A shame someone screwed it up, but still a nice set of tabs.
