      Hello everyone,

I wonder how you guys can make a positive verdict on these items only from the look of one foto?

      Greetings,

Oh seriously you think it is too minty? Well good luck finding an SS tunic and smock that is worn just right for your taste. Wait they can throw something together for you on your next vacation to..........Latvia!

Several months ago Weitze had about a half dozen salty smocks. I think they were oakleaf but correct me if I'm wrong. Some were in very worn condition and available a fraction of the cost of a really nice one.

                        Ken,
yes, they were oak. I think all of them were HBT smocks and they weren't worn at all but just heavily damaged through mouse bite etc.. They must have been "stored" in mint condition about 60 years ago in a bad environment. The prices were rather high for the condition they were in, but that's a matter of personal taste of course.

                        Cheers

I disagree with you this time,I have take from him some from this smocks, and if for you two holes are problem for me not
only one was realy bad but the price was 2600 euro very fair price I think.
the rest was for 3400-6500 and all mint, with some damage(very small)
this HBT smocks are ultra RARE imo and I have never seen befor for sale.

Some time went by and perhaps my memory serves me wrong and they were very nice. I remember most of them with large holes but I can be wrong of course.

                              Cheers

Thank you for the comments on the set. It is minty but again exactly (perhaps) what a young grenadier would receive on joining the division. The smock was certainly not cheap and could only be acquired through partial trade/cash - but it was an opportunity too good to pass by. The same goes for the oakleaf HBT smocks - rare beyond words and I let one slip by. Sigh....

The tunic has all insignia original to it but is virtually mint. I can trace the provenance back about 30 years and know where it was before then...

As for the 12th SS - very hard, but not completely impossible, to find material from them.

                                Mike
