I have seen this before, on a pic or two from e-bay, but they were rotated more to resemble an 'x'..i will see if i can find the pics..

its hard to tell from your scanned image the difference in color or shade of black on the insignia versus the sleeve.

If the difference is the cross on the insignia versus the tunic in darkness would revel that the cross may be red. Such a thing as an early medic in the SS?

Guys, thanks for your thoughts. This picture is taken from the screen of a microfiche reader so a better image isn't possible. Hardly conducive to hi-res photography! Anybody else?

That is the early SS arm insignia for medical personnel, thanks for posting the photo. is it from someone's file?
