    SS sleeve eagle – opinions

    Hello Everyone,

Is this eagle original or it’s a fake?
It doesn’t glow under the black light.

    Thanks
    A.

    Hi Alikn!

I have never seen this one before, but I don't like it.

I agree with Brian. It looks like an embroidered version of the "bowling pin" eagle just posted in another thread.
      Regards,
      Fred

        Alikn,
Sorry this is a fake, copied from a machine woven eagle (as mentioned above) all be it a fake machine woven eagle,

below is a couple of images of this type of fake eagle, first one is an EM type like yours but on black backing, the other is supposed to be an officers type in that it is machine embroidered in aluminium wire again on black backing but was available on green also
        cheers,
        Gary

                    Beautiful originals

Both of these are totally righteous and very nice examples to boot!

The mouse-grey bevo version appears to be cut right around
the rayon border cloth and not folded under which would be more correct. It doesn't appear to be issued so I think somebody did
that post-war. Still a nice example.

The machine-embroidered one which is an earlier style is on a
decent quality wool badge cloth and these were never folded
under - always cut and then usually zig-zag stitched to the tunic
sleeve. This one appears worn and was probably snow-white
                      when new. Another fine example.

                      Both are EM/NCO quality.

                        Alikn,
As Brian has said above the last 2 eagles 100% real.
                        cheers,
                        Gary
